Once your goals have been defined, there are six steps left to develop your inbound marketing strategy. These will allow you to implement an effective and coherent action plan. Let’s review them!

 Define your target

The first step is to define your marketing target. This is essential for effectively focusing your communication strategy. For example, let’s say you’re selling clothing. Okay, but to whom? Young teenagers who want to be fashionable at school? Businesswomen looking for class and elegance? Grandmas? You can imagine that depending on your ideal customer, you won’t communicate about your products in the same way.

Define your positioning on social networks

With all the information you’ve already gathered, you can now define your social media positioning. This will help you define the position your product or brand will occupy in the minds of consumers compared to your competitors.

For example, a photographer can position themselves as a corporate photography expert and target businesses. This will set them apart from all photographers of private events, such as weddings or newborns. This positioning will allow them to attract a qualified audience and more easily convert their followers into clients.

To further define your positioning, I invite you to define your brand platform by outlining your vision, mission, and values. This will make your social media communications all the more impactful.

Define or create your visual identity

This will help you stand out on social media! So, choose your colors and fonts, and don’t hesitate to create templates for your Instagram account. All the platforms you share on should follow these same visual codes so that you can be quickly identified and remembered.

 Create your editorial line

To achieve greater consistency between your content, it’s essential to create your editorial line. This is the fifth step! But what is it exactly? It’s a document that will outline the main points of your strategy.

Your avatar is your target customer. You can detail it by specifying their demographic criteria (age, gender, marital status, origin, income, profession, etc.), their values and the goals they wish to achieve, and the challenges and problems they encounter.

What? The pillars of your content (= the topics you want to talk about).

Generate post ideas for each type of content that you can then include in your editorial calendar. The choice of topics for your publications obviously depends on your goals and your ideal customer.

In this section, you can specify all the elements related to the writing style to use to reflect your brand image. Write down the lexical field to use, the tone to adopt in your publications (funny, serious, empathetic), the level of language (formal or informal), your favorite emojis, the hashtags to use .

Where? Communication channels (in this case, which social networks?).

Make a note of this in your editorial policy document. If you’re in business, the three most important social networks are Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn.

When? The frequency of publication.

How many times a week will you post? On which days specifically? It’s essential to be consistent on social media, but not at the expense of the quality of your content.

 Write the action plan

Wow, you’re almost done with this huge (and super important) task! Now all you have to do is write down the actions you need to take to achieve your goals.

These actions can be grouped into two categories

Your social media strategy is ready to go. Now all that’s left is to take action, analyze your results, improve where necessary, and start again! Don’t forget to revisit your strategy regularly, as an action plan can always be improved.
